I want to make a filter to look for issues with a specific value in one of the fields. But i get a message "fieldname" is not applicable for the current project and/or issuetype.

The issue type is a URL, maybe that matters.

Hopefully somebody can help, thanks in advance

Is the field configured for the project or the issue type you are searching in? It sounds like the configuration of the field is limiting that field to specific projects/issue types. If you go to Settings > Issues > Custom fields and locate the field and then click on the three-dot menu on the right and Contexts and default values you can see if the configuration is limiting the field or not.
