Figure out Velocity Chart

I am a Project Manager for a JIRA project, and we are currently in the development phase. I create sub-tasks within each story for development and assign them to my dev team. My team enters the original estimates in hours for each of their sub-tasks, which are automatically populated and consolidated at the story level. Because of this, I am unable to enter the original estimate in the story itself, as it would duplicate the field values.

Now, I want to generate the Velocity Chart in JIRA, which is auto-generated based on the original estimates in the story. However, since I did not fill in the original estimate field for the story, JIRA does not fetch any data for the velocity chart, and I end up with a blank chart for my sprint.

Could you please help me figure out how I can get the velocity chart to display data, even though my team is filling in the estimates at the sub-task level?

Hi @Nimit Chauhan

You will need to change your way of working with the team Story points estimation should be done on Story level and not on sub-tasks.

The Velocity report can't be amended to sub-tasks.
