This has been happening more and more frequently:
I click on the Jira Icon within Excel. In the dropdown for input type, I select "filter"
Then in the pulldown for filters, I see:

It takes a lot of effort to get this working - so many things I never know what fixed it.
Thoughts?

Hi @Paul Beatrice Welcome to the Atlassian Community
It seems like you're calling Jira from another program (Excel). Configuration of this setup is essential for it's functioning properly (think API-call using credentials).
Without learning any of this and your specific set-up, answering your question is not possible.
Kind regards,
Dick

now it works, go figure. I did so many things I don't know what fixed it.
Once I tried again and got a web browser with a code, I knew it would work - but how did I get it to do that

Why don't you describe your current settings here, so anyone with a similar question could find an answer? It could also become your place to fallback to if something were to go awry in the future.
Kind regards,
Dick

Hi Paul,
If someone would go and implement the stuff you have using the excel plug-in. What are the key things they need to do to get it working for them? I'm sure you'll be helping out someone with that stuff.
Kind regards,
Dick

What I use the Excel plugin for is to pull data from pre-defined filters. I customize my filters based on clients, which columns etc.
When it works it works great. But lately I have been seeing more and more times where when I pull down on filter, there are no filters.
