Hi,
How do people use JIRA to show the contents of upcoming releases
We release weekly, it has been suggested that we create 4 releases in advance and tag tickets that we think will make that release
I am not sure that is the best solution as we would need to update tickets if they are going to miss a release
How else do you show the contents of releases in advance?
Thanks
Jerry
We utilize versions which is a feature built into Jira Software. We also use sprints. We have monthly releases and use weekly sprints to accomplish the work. The releases are track in the version that they are in. We build out at least six months at this time to help us plan and prioritize work. We might have work that will take several months to complete and we can place it in a version that is slated to release several months out. We will however include the work in our weekly sprints to work up to and meet the release date. By focusing on the long term, versions, we can see how each version/release is progressing. Our weekly sprints allow the team to focus on what is important to complete that week to meet the larger release goals. If an issue is not completed at release we discuss it and move it to the proper version and adjust versions as needed. The version will also provide a release history that you and your team can go back to for information. I would suggest learning about versions and how to use them here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/check-the-progress-of-a-version/
