Frequently logged out over Internet Explorer

We have a situation where my customers are getting frequently logged out while accessing JIRA over Internet explorer 11. I have seen the Session Cookie Name blog here. However, we have JIRA and Confluence on two different servers and ports. So it does not appear to be a Cookie problem. I noticed below errors

/rest/greenhopper/1.0/sprint/rank [c.t.f.service.caching.CacheHelperImpl] Unable to format message: null (NullPointerException)

c.a.j.p.l.p.fragment.impl.ProjectActivityStreamContextProvider] Runtime error rendering activity stream gadget.
com.atlassian.gadgets.GadgetParsingException: org.apache.shindig.gadgets.GadgetException: Unable to retrieve gadget xml. HTTP error 404

- this one i wish to rule out as it pertains to the Activity stream gadget. Highly unlikely this could cause a application logout

and

[c.a.a.client.hash.BcryptAnalyticsEmailHasher] No instructions for hashing could be found. Returning null.

I suspect one of them is causing the frequent logouts. Thoughts/ideas are welcome.

Hi Janakiraman,

  1. Does the issue persist after clearing browser cookies?
  2. Does the issue persist after enabling safe mode?
  3. Does the issue happen when you are still log in to confluence from another tab?

Kind Regard

Hi Suren,

Apologise the late reply. The issue appears to be very strange at the moment. It is hard to recreate the issue. But once in a while, we are running into it. At the moment it appears to be only on IE11, i tried after disabling the addons. It appears to be fine although I am not so sure.  I am wondering if the issue exists in Firefox and Chrome too however it is not noticeable. Still trying to simulate the test steps that cause this.
