Frustrated...fresh install of JIRA Server...service running...localhost:8080 asks for userid and pwd

Mika Nuotio January 20, 2019

I just installed a JIRA server with PostgreSQL database.

The installation was successful and the service is running.

I am able to get to the JIRA page at localhost:8080

My problem is that I am being prompted for a userid and password...

Nowhere during the installation process was there a step where an "admin" user or any other user could be specified.

I am at a complete loss of what userid and password I should use...

Tried: admin/admin, my Windows userid and password, JIRA Cloud userid and password...

Best Regards,

Mika

Thank you for your responses.

When I installed JIRA I also imported a backup from our Jira Cloud instance.

When you do this, the "normal" installation procedure is disrupted and you do not get to complete step 6 as suggested by Sid.

After some additional online research I found a page that explains that a userid 'sysadmin' with password 'sysadmin' was created automatically.

I was able to login with these credentials.

This issue is resolved.

You can't actually complete a Jira installation process without entering an initial username and password, so the answer to this question is really "put in what you entered".

But, as it seems you have misplaced that, the easiest thing to do is follow https://confluence.atlassian.com/jira/retrieving-the-jira-administrator-192836.html

Creating an admin user is part of the install steps https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/installing-jira-applications-on-linux-938846841.html "6. Create your administrator account"

You can either follow the stpes in Nic's link or uninstall and reinstall
