Get notification when the Release/Version is updated

You can use Automation For Jira for that if you have the add-on.

ok.. next question is .. how can I tell if I have Automation for Jira, and if so, I do I use it for this purpose

You should check go to the Apps section to see. There is a Free Automation For Jira Lite app that should do the trick. Or this is a more robust paid app.
