Getting Error when trying to save a newly created story

When adding a new Story to and Epic, I go to save the story I get message "Defect Severity: Defect Severity is required". This message is preventing me from saving the story.

I do not see any Defect Severity input field on the form.  

My issue type is Story I wouldn't have expected to see a Defect input field.

How do I edit the form to remove the input field from being required so that I can save the story?

Hi @Sharon Rousey ,

I suppose filed was added to project (or it is global) configuration fields but not added to screen. Check schemes https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiraserver/associating-field-behavior-with-issue-types-938847262.html

I recommend to avoid 'global' custom fields.
