Hello -
Does anyone have any experience connecting GitHub and JIRA Server?
Everything I'm reading is the only way to connect GitHub to JIRA is JIRA needs to be a Cloud instance. Is that true?
Thank you,
Scott
Hi @Scott McDonald , we've covered how to set up the integration in multiple ways in the following article.
Hope this helps!
Hi @Stefaan Quackels ,
Thanks for the article. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see the ability to create Github branches directly from JIRA server but can send updates, etc from Github by entering messages in the commits?
Can you create branches from JIRA cloud?
Thank you,
Scott

HI @Leo ,
Thanks for the info! How can I get GitHub to appear under Development Tools inside a JIRA issue?
We have both Bitbucket and Github connected to our JIRA instance, is that why only Bitbucket is the default option when you click 'Create Branch'?
Thanks,
Scott

Hi Leo -
Are there limitations to using GitHub Enterprise with JIRA Server (things like create branches)?
Can you create branches with JIRA Cloud and Github Enterprise?
Thanks,
Scott

As per my knowledge(so far I worked), I don't think there is a way to create branch in github from Jira
But if you mention Jira's ID in branch name while you create it in github or in local, that'll be reflected in Jira
