I'm trying to set up GitHub integration for our JIRA board but am coming up against issues.

The first step (ChatGPT tells me) is to visit: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1218389/github-for-jira

This page is currently showing the following message:

It's been like that for several days.

It's possible I already added the app to our account so I pushed on anyway. The next step is to authorise GitHub access - which is done through the following:

https://london.atlassian.net/plugins/servlet/ac/com.github.integration.production/github-post-install-page

This also throws an error:

Again, this has been happening for a while.

Does anyone know if this is a known outage that's being worked on or something my end that's broken? Please could you help?

Hi @Anthony DuGuay, I’m the Community Manager at Exalate.

While Atlassian has confirmed there was a recent incident, and it sounds like raising a support ticket is the right next step if the issue persists, I also wanted to mention an alternative approach in case you're exploring other options down the line.

There are a few more Marketplace apps that support GitHub–Jira integration

Each solution offers different strengths—some are more focused on unidirectional integrations, while others (like Exalate) offer more advanced integrations options (e.g., across multiple GitHub instances, or syncing issues, pull requests, comments, etc.)

You might want to explore a couple of these to see which aligns best with your setup. Happy to share more context or answer any questions if you'd like to dig deeper into any of them.

Hope this helps!

Hi @Anthony DuGuay

If you're encountering issues with the GitHub for Jira integration, like the authorization errors you mentioned, here are some troubleshooting steps to consider:

  • Verify GitHub App Installation: Double-check that the GitHub for Jira app is properly installed from the Atlassian Marketplace. If it’s already installed, try reinstalling it to resolve any conflicts.
  • Check Permissions: Make sure the GitHub app has the necessary permissions on both Jira and GitHub. Lack of the correct permissions can prevent integration from working as expected.
  • Regenerate Tokens: If you're seeing authorization errors, try regenerating the GitHub access token and ensure it has the right permissions (e.g., repo access).
  • Check for Service Disruptions: Visit the Atlassian status page to see if there are any ongoing outages or known issues with the integration as mentioned in the answers above

If these steps don’t resolve the issue, you might want to consider exploring alternative solutions for integrating GitHub with Jira. OpsHub, an Atlassian Silver Solutions Partner, offers an enterprise -grade integration tool that could help address more complex scenarios or persistent issues with the GitHub-Jira sync.

Hope it helps!

Hey @Anthony DuGuay

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

There was an active incident yesterday that was preventing users from installing the Github for Jira app.

If you're still experiencing issues, please create a support ticket so the team can assist you.
