Grant View only access free of charge

Hi,

I configured the permission scheme with view view-only access role. Can I onboard a client free of charge? Is it possible?
I'm on the standard plan for Jira cloud software.

Hello @Oshadhi Vindhyani

If you want to assign a user to a Project Role you will need to make them a licensed user.

Jira Software, as a product, does not have the concept of a "free guest" user. The application is made available to paid licensed user, and you can enable Anonymous access. If you enable Anonymous access the projects/permissions that you grant to "Public" will grant that access to everybody on the internet.

Jira Service Management has the concept of a "customer" user who has access only to individual issues through a "customer portal", and you are not charged for customer accounts. Anybody who needs access to the underlying functionality of Jira, though, needs a licensed account or the information has to be made accessible for anonymous access.

Alternately you could look for a third party app that might enable you to share information with users without granting them direct access to Jira.

Here is another post from 2021 that discusses this same topic.
