Grouping by category shows also deleted categories

Hi, can I somehow completely remove old categories? In the dropdown menu of the category field I can remove a category, but if I then group by category also the deleted categories are displayed.

This has been reported also by others - see e.g. this thread - so it indeed seems like a recent change. You may want to reach out to Atlassian Support about it.
