Different usernames for one user in AD and Jira

We observed today, for one user, two different user name is showing in Jira and AD.

Let say a user is: Akshay Role

In Jira, it's showing: Akshay Role and in AD: Aksh Role

What is the problem here? or anybody has gone through this before?

Has the user's name been changed in AD since the corresponding account was created in JIRA?

At one site where I administered JIRA Server v7.x, it was linked to AD so that it would create new JIRA user accounts as AD users logged into JIRA for the first time. However, if the users name was changed in AD, that did not necessarily update to JIRA.
