Help locating gadgets and applications per requirement

Angela O'Brien January 15, 2025

Hi there! I've been assigned the task of creating several reports in JIRA Cloud for my team. After extensive research, I've realized that no single application meets all my requirements. I'm seeking recommendations for the best gadget, application, or JQL programming that can fulfill my business reporting needs. Specifically, I need to track the capacity utilized per team member (and per role) across multiple projects over a specified time period. For instance, based on Mary's weekly capacity and time logged on various simultaneous projects, is Mary overutilized, underutilized, or at capacity? Similarly, for my BA team, during a specific time period, is the team at, over, or under capacity? I intend to use this data for project planning and performance evaluations. Any suggestions to help me create these types of reports would be greatly appreciated.

Hi @Angela O'Brien ,

Please tell me if you use sprints? JIRA has an embedded mechanism for what you are looking for - the Sprint Report and the Velocity Report. You can calculate the velocity of teams to forecast the end date of your project or to conduct performance reviews. If you are sure that you need individual performance tracking as well, then you need a 3rd party app. You can use the one I developed for that - Multi-team Scrum Metrics & Retrospective.

You can construct bar charts for sprints, months, quarters, half-years, or years.

Best regards,
Alexey

Hi Alexey.  Thank you for your reply.  Yes, we do use sprints for our project teams.

Does Multi-team Scrum Metrics & Retrospective allow me to track across multiple projects at one time or will a pivot report need to be created separately for each project?  Most of our team members work on more than one project at a time and I need to be able to compute capacity based on time allocated and recorded across all assigned projects and tasks.

@Angela O'Brien ,

It can track across multiple projects this way:

If you would like to aggregate several projects/boards and present them as one board, I can deliver it for you in the next release. Estimate: 2 days.

I would really encourage you to check at least the demo of my app, I perfectly know at which stage you are currently in and that you will need to retrospect and figure out how to improve performance of teams/engineers. My app can do all this pretty efficiently and effectively.

Best regards,
Alexey

Hi @Angela O'Brien

 Welcome to the community !!

A mktplace app can help to plan the capacity of your teams. If you are open to try one, take a look at :

Capacity Planner

With the add-on you can :

  • Maintain the team members daily capacity in a template and decide work allocation.
  • Define resource leaves.
  • Plan capacity either for time estimates or story points.
  • Check the effort progress of the resource and make decisions accordingly.
  • Track the actual time spent per task

 Do try it out.

Hi @Angela O'Brien ,

You can take a look on our app Pivot Report, that helps with cross project reporting:

Live demo is available here: https://demo.colined.com/plugins/servlet/pr/report?report=180

We can schedule a call to go over your needs in detail if needed, just let me know.

Hi Dmitry.  Does Cross Project Report allow me to track across multiple projects at one time or will a pivot report need to be created separately for each project?  Most of our team members work on more than one project at a time and I need to be able to compute capacity based on time allocated and recorded across all assigned projects and tasks.

@Angela O'Brien , Pivot Report works on top of a search results/filter, which can be multi project. In the demo report I've shared above you can see time entries from users that work on 3 different projects. So, a single report can cover all of users or a specific group.
