Hi, I have one major project which has multiple streams running in parallel and each stream has its own board in Jira. Is there a way to roll-up the status of each workstream in Jira?
We do not want to use another management tool just to combine all the status of each work stream.
Hi @Rodel Inacay, can you tell us more about what you mean by the word "streams"?
You'll want to make sure you're using Epics, parent issues (like Tasks, Stories, Bugs, etc), and child issues (like Sub-tasks) which include some of their own "roll-up" capabilities. For example, time logged in Sub-tasks is automatically summed in the parent task.
But in general, yes, you can use Jira to give you an overall picture of your work and you can also extend Jira's visualization and planning capabilities with additional (paid) apps like: Portfolio for Jira or BiggGantt. I wouldn't expect you'd need a separate management tool, unless you're trying to do something super custom that other companies out there aren't doing.
Let us know more about your needs and someone from the Community might be able to provide additional insight.
Cheers,

Hi Rachel,
Thank you. In our project, we will have separate Jira project entries for the Design tasks, Build Tasks and Test tasks. These are the "streams". They can be running in parallel.
We want these project entries roll-up to our main project entry ("EndToEnd") so we can track the progress of each phase in one board.
We are running the project in Waterfall and not Agile. We will need to track project metrics like actual hours and ETC hours. Can this be tracked in Jira as well?
