How can we use scripting in Jira cloud

Hi All,

We are using Jira Cloud and want to explore scripting feature in Jira.

We are new to this feature and not sure how we can explore, few question we have 

1. Is it necessary to have a scripting plug in jira or we can use some Jira inbuilt function?

2. Which scripting language is widely used for performing task in Jira 

Please suggest how to proceed ahead, any feedback is much appreciated.

It depends on what you want to do, there are various Add-on such as Script Runner that provides scripting based features using Groovy (if i'm not mistaken), other than this, you basically use any scripting language (Python, Javascript, Node.js etc) to perform any given task that is allowed on Jira Cloud by creating your own custom scripts.
