[How] Change User Mention Display from Username to Full Name

Hello,

We need assistance configuring JIRA to display full names instead of usernames when mentioning users in comments.

Current: [~username]
Desired: [~Fullname]

JIRA Environment: [JIRA DATA CENTER]

Please advise on the configuration needed to display full names in user mentions.

I am using Jira datacenter and I do not see this problem. What version of jira are you using ? and it is for all users or only you ?

In Jira Data Center, user full names are generally displayed automatically in comments when users are mentioned using the "@" symbol. When you type "@" followed by a user's name or a portion of it, Jira's auto-complete feature will suggest matching users, and selecting one will insert their full name into the comment. 

I suggest perform below steps and recheck: 

1. Try using the jira in incognito mode
2. Run sync for user directories if your jira is connected to external directories (AD, LDAP etc)
   i.e. Go to admin settings --> User Management --> User directories. Click Sync for all available options.
3. Run jira full Reindex
   Go to admin settings --> System --> Indexing --> Full re-index
   Please note: This way of re-indexing is faster and more thorough, but Jira will be unavailable to your users until re-indexing is complete. I Suggest you to do after working hours. 
4. Clear plugin cache and restart Jira
5. Enable safe mode for plugins are recheck.
