How I can change the result from "search for issues"?

With the new JIRA Version I got the problem that I always get all 35296 Issues listed when I want to go to the search with "search for issues". Can I change this?

It is completly unnecessary to wait until he had listed all Issues. Nobody needs this overview in our company and they always must adjust the filter.

Nope, I don't think so, unless you educate the users to save the filters and always go through those saved filters, not directly to search for issues.

And indeed, IMHO JIRA designers really got it wrong with that default search stuff. I agree it's annoying for an educated user, but for JIRA greenhorns may be simpler ...
