How are bugs handled?

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Creating and linking issues

In the image "Apply updates on project/s" the issue types epics and stories are displayed. Are bugs handled like stories?

Portfolio to JIRA conversion

Initiative --> (New Feature)

Epic ------->: Epic

Stories -----> Bugs/(any issue type under Epic)
