How can I change status on an issue from Sprint board view?

Hi Jira Community, 

I would like to change the status of an issue on the sprint board view. I can do this if I drag the issue over to the next column and if I click on the issue it also takes me to where I can change the status (on a new window) I also know I can use automation. 

Be awesome if I could just change status by clicking the ellipses or clicking on the workflow anybody know if this is possible?

With the options to drag the card to another column why do you need an additional method under the ellipses button? What problem are you trying to solve?

Well, we have developers that will mark the subtasks deployed to test per say, but the story status remains New.

How would having a way to change the status from the ellipses solve that problem?

What version of Jira are you using? You could address keeping the Story and Sub-task statuses in better synch using the Automation features, depending on the version you're using.
