How can I combine two or three test cases into one test case?

As a test case creator, I would like to combine two or three test cases into one test case. Is there a function in JIRA that allows this?

Currently I am working with two screens and different tabs to merge the test cases into one. This is unproductive, time consuming and extremely error prone.

Hi @Kenny Körner,

I am Marlene from codefortynine.

Another option would be our Jira cloud app Merge Agent for Jira.

With our app you can merge any issue content into other issues. It's also possible to transition the merged issues, after the merge is complete.

  • Simply open the issue you want to merge
  • Click on the action menu of the issue
  • Click "Merge"
  • Configure which fields/issues you want to merge and further merge settings

You can watch this demo to learn more about our app.

Hi @Kate Pawlak _Appsvio_ ,

thank you for your reply.

Does the tool also work for merging tests? If the tool is also usable for merging tests, the tool would be optimal for my purposes.

Best regards

Kenny

Hi @Kenny Körner ,

Natively Jira doesn't offer any feature to combine two (or more) tickets into one issue. You have to copy values manually from one ticket to another.

Merging issues is possible only using the app, for example, which is developed by my team and called Issue Merger PRO for Jira. It allows merging tickets directly on the issue view by clicking Merge. You can also automate it if you have similar tickets created all the time and you can define any conditions when these tickets should be merged.

What's worth saying, if you have a Jira instance up to 10 users, this app is free.

Best regards,

If the test is represented by issue, of course! You can merge all issues which you want.
