How can I copy Custom fields from Source issue to destination issue.

Johnson Aduri July 5, 2023

Hi, when source issue is linked to destination issue  and type is Master portfolio then Copy Custom fields from Source issue  ( Description, Summary and assignee) to destination issue. The flow should be one direction -->.

I tried this with automation but I see nothing happening. Please help.

Hello

If you're not against using a third-party, I suggest using our Copy & Sync application which can help you with what you are trying to achieve.

If your issues already exist, you can easily do this by configuring a synchronization recipe. For instance, it could look like this:

And you can condition the source and/or the target with a JQL filter.

Copy & Sync also manage cloning of issues and synchronization between them. I'll be happy to help if needed.

You can give it a try, it's free under 10 users and we have a 30-Day trial policy.

Regards!

Hi Johnson,

Can you share the details of what you have in the Edit issue for the fields you are updating?

Maybe try something like: {{issue.issuelinks.outwardIssue.summary}}

If that doesn't work, the try inwardIssue instead of outwardIssue.

Try the code I have above to see if that helps.

@John Funk  - I tried both Inward and outward and I don't see any change in the issue

For some reason Source issue is been edited.

Okay, from the message it looks like it wants you to use a branch. So, before the last step put in a Branch for Linked Issues and then move your Edit issue fields action under that. Go ahead and put in the outward link with Summary and the inward link with Description to see which one it is looking for.
