How can I format a long description within a custom field?

I'm creating a custom field for a new issue type for my company to use as a "check the box if you understand" function. But the text within the description of the field just produces one super long continuous text. How could I format that in order to show bullets and such?

Hi Aaron,

You can change the field to use a Wiki Style renderer such as you find for the Description field.  You can do this by going to

• Administration > Issues > Field Configurations 
• Click Configure next to Default Field Configuration
• Find your field and click Renderers

In the drop-down list change that to Wiki Style Renderers and click Update.

Hopefully that gets you the results you're looking for.
