How can I get notification for any change in the project tasks?

Bracha Feldman October 28, 2022

Right now I only get notifications for tasks I'm involved in (viewing, reporting, mentioned)

I would like to be notified by email on any changes to any task. Not only my tasks.

How can i do this (i'm not admin)

Hi @Bracha Feldman ,

welcome to the Atlassian community!

A JIRA Admin should change the Notification Scheme for project/s and add your user to each event (creation, update, resolve, comment and so on).

Hi @Bracha Feldman

Few things.

  • When you say any task, are you talking about thousands of issues? You can only get notified for issues/tasks that you have access to based on the permissions.
  • Let us say you have access to 400 issues, then you can add yourself as a watcher. I am sure you don't want to get notified for those 400 issues but the email notification is based on the notification scheme on the projects where those issues reside. So not a guarantee that you will receive notifications.
  • You can create a filter for the tasks that you are the interested in and then subscribe to that filter to get regular emails from Jira. Check this post. It won't send an email straightway after changes to an issue but you can in your JQL define what changes you want to track may be based on field values.

It would be best if you reach out to your Jira Administrator to get this configured but why do you want to get notified for all the changes? May be you can use Jira reports and dashboards to track the work?

You will need to ask your Jira Administrator (JA) to either add you (as a single user) to the list of notification events within the associated notification scheme or you could have your JA add you to a role (newly created or existing) where the role is then added to all of the notification events.

There are of course many other types of recipients that you can add who may receive email notifications (such as Project lead, Component lead, etc)

Jira applications support the following events, which can generate email notifications (as defined in a notification scheme).
