We have a project that allows Assignee to be non-required. However, at just one point in the workflow, for just one status, we would like to force the user who changes the status to fill in the Assignee. I can't figure out how to do it on the workflow or using an automation. What am I missing? Has somebody else done this?
Thanks.
Hello Tracy,
To make the Assignee field required for just one status in your Jira Cloud workflow without using any plugins, you can use a combination of Workflow Validators and Transition Screens. Here’s how you can do it:
Add a Transition Screen:
Associate the Screen with the Transition:
Add a Validator to the Transition:
Publish the Workflow:
This setup will ensure that when a user transitions an issue to the specified status, they will be presented with a screen where the Assignee field is mandatory.
Feel free to ask if you need further assistance!
Best regards,
Note that Transition screens are available only for Company Managed projects. If you are working with a Team Managed project can't add a transition screen.
Find your project's type on the View All Projects page under the Projects menu.
