How can I move my task for a different project on JWM using the same created Issue Type?

Bruno Xavier October 6, 2023

Hi,

I am using 2 projects for business, one is the initial part, and the second is to build requirements.

Based on that, I created an Issue Type called "Business", this issue type should migrate through both boards and in the future state to Jira (level above EPIC). In other words, the first project starts to fill out, and the second project complete with additional information.

In this case, I did the following actions:

  • Created the same issue type on both projects
  • Create the same fields (identical) on both projects
    • JWM doesn't allow me to find and assign previous Custom Fields from previous projects, which I created it again

Result:

Once I click to move the task from the First to the Second project, it deletes all fields and asks to create it again.

How can I solve it, please?

Are the two projects team-managed or company-managed? Based on what you described I would think team-managed and in that case you can only keep the data in the fields you have created if they are shared i.e. you created global custom fields.

Thank you Mikael!

   Yes, they are team-managed type.

In this case a global custom field can be visible only for admins, is that correct?

No, the field is visible to anyone that have access to the project, but you have to be an admin in order to make it a global custom field and also add it to the layout.
