How can I remove(not delete) a JIRA story that is in-progress because it is no longer relevant

I don't want to delete it. Want to still have record of it, but want to remove it from Kamba board from in-progress. Thanks

I would create a resolution value called "Archived" and select that value when setting the status to your Closed workflow status (whatever you've decided to call it). This avoids having multiple "end state" workflow statuses in your workflow and helps keep the workflow clean.

My team created a status that is hidden from all boards called "Archived." Instead of deleting issues, we just change the issue status to archived. This lets us re-open the issue if we need it again in the future. 

We also created a board that only displays archived issues, so they're easy to find later.
