How can i create a historical timeline of sprints or releases

My projects are a few years in duration, and we are now required to document a chronological list of releases(sprints) along with dates and (ideally) details on the stories.

How can i best accomplish this?

Can  you use the Release Notes feature? See https://confluence.atlassian.com/adminjiracloud/creating-release-notes-776636314.html for doing this in the Cloud. There is a similar page for Jira Server/DC
