How can ich create a cumulated EPIC report? or Mulitiple EPICs in a project Report

Markus Kemmer January 11, 2023

I have a project with many EPICs and their tickets. I am looking for a report that lists the EPICs like a table and lists the tickets in it by status (DONE, BLOCKED, IN PROGESS,.... ). So almost the standard EPIC report but as a list for all EPICs in my project.

And it would be more interesting to do that in the core Jira and not in an Atlassian Marketplace app

Like that:

Summary Project Markus
Operations EPIC 1 EPIC 2EPIC 3EPIC 4EPIC 5EPIC 6….
Total756
Completed746
Unestimated0
in Progress1
…..xy

Story Points
Total11,008
Completed10,508

@Markus Kemmer

Would this report work in Excel format for you? I wrote about how to create an epic report from Jira in Excel recently using Better Excel Exporter. This would be one way of going about it.

Hi @Markus Kemmer

If you are fine with a mktplace app to visualize your Epics and their hierarchy, you can try our app

Issue Hierarchy Reports

It has the following features :

  • Sum up  - Roll up for Time estimates and Story Points
  • Progress % on "time estimates" and "story Points"
  • Rollup of all number fields
  • Group By fields
  • CSV export
  • Slice and dice your data to create more menaningful reports

Hi @Markus Kemmer

if you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, I believe you could get pretty close to this using the app that my team is working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged table/spreadsheet view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you'd do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for issue hierarchies, issue groupings, and sum-ups. With these features combined, you could build a sheet that looks e.g. as follows:

epic-report.gif

You can also perform any other grouping (single-level or nested), view any other issue fields, and configure different sum-up styles. As you can see above, the report is also full interactive, meaning that you can work on your issues directly from the report.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes
