It appears by default that JIRA 5.0.2 places outgoing JIRA issue emails into html versus .txt format. How can one change the outgoing email format in JIRA 5.0.2 from html to text. I didn't notice anything in the administration console that seems to provide this capability.
If you go to Administration > Users > User Preferences, you can change the type to text. Click Apply if you want to change it for everyone. Otherwise it will be changed only for new users.
