How could I show the number of stories in an epic on an epic's card?

Leadership is wanting to see how many stories are tied to an epic (as well as a custom issue type "Problem Idea". Is there an easy way to show this by choosing a field in the Card Layout?

Hi @Walt Harper,

As far as I am aware there is not a method of achieving this with just Jira Core.

If you decide to use Jira Software you could utilise swim lanes to sort by Epic then you will get a total number of standard issues within the Epic displayed on the Epic heading, though it is not on the card's layout. 

You might be able to script something that could achieve this using Script Runner, though I am unfamiliar with the add-on.
