How do I change the default issue types for new projects?

Hello-

When creating a new project, Jira Cloud creates the following issue types by default: Story, Bug, Epic, Task, and Sub-task. We have renamed "Bug" to "Defect" but now, when a new project is created, it creates another issue type called "Bug".  We don't want to call them bugs. I can't find a way to change this behavior in any of the admin screen.

Thank you for your help!

Hi Peter,

That's why I rarely create new Projects from scratch. I usually create a project based on an existing project. Some people call that using a project template. But it will use the same Issue Type Scheme that the original project uses.

By the way, that will not work for Next-gen projects.
