How do I create different Issue Edit Screens based on role?

Dov Cohn December 3, 2018

I have Product Managers and Developers working in the same project.

Developers would like a much more streamlined/simple Issue Edit screen, hiding many of the fields that PM likes and uses?

As far as I can tell, Issues schemes and screens are defined at the project level.

Is there a way I can have different a different screen based on role?

Maybe not entirely an exact answer to your question, but if user friendliness is what you are after, you could also move the Product Management fields on a separate tab.

That might be interesting for both your developers as your product managers.

Hello,

You can not do it out of the box.

You would need an add-on for it.

For example, you could use the Power Scripts add-on:

https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/43318/power-scripts-jira-script-automation?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

You could create an edit screen with all fields for managers and developers. Then you would check if a user is a developer, then you would hide certain field. If the user is a manager then you would hide other fields.

This feature is called Live Fields. You can read more about this feature here:
