How do I enable the option to archive stories?

Currently if there's a story that is no longer needed it's moved into the Backlog which isn't ideal because then the Backlog will just keep growing. I would like to have the option to archive stories and also the ability to unarchive them if needed in the future.

I'm not seeing the option to archive in my Jira and I'm an Admin.

Archiving is not what you should be looking at here.

There is something wrong in your process if closed items are going back into your backlog.  Why are they doing that?  They should be done and closed, and available in the "done" pile, not in the backlog.  Archiving is for removing them from searches because they're old and getting in the way.
