How do I get Backlog and Active Sprint options added to my project that switched from service desk.

Michael Horton April 3, 2018
I recently changed my service desk project over to software project so that I can manage it in a backlog and sprints, but after doing so I no longer have the backlog or active sprint options available to me. When I create a new software project in the cloud, those options are available. How do I turn this into a software project with scrum templates?

Hi @Michael Horton,

Welcome to this community :)

I think that you need to do the last step after changing the project type to Software, create a scrum board.

For create your Scrum board, you should follow these steps.

  1. Create a Filter with the appropriate criteria, for example, project = A.
  2. Save and share the filter with the appropriate colleagues
  3. Create a Scrum board based on the saved filter

You should now have the board available for your project. Please note you can also apply the same principle across multiple projects by using

project in (A,B,C)

where A,B,C are the project keys.

Cheers,

Adrián.

Hi @Adrián Plaza [DEISER],

Thank you for welcoming me, and thank you for the quick feedback. Yesterday, I was able to do step 1 and 2 to create/edit a filter as you mentioned, but because there is no menu or option for Active Sprint or Backlog, I couldn't complete step 3.

I will mention that I think I have this fixed, and it might come in handy for you guys to know.  I took our on-prem URL and replaced it with the Cloud URL to load the board list page.  From there I was able to create a new board using my saved filter, and after doing so, it seemed to trigger the current project to start displaying both Active Sprints and Backlog options at the top of my left nav window.  I've been able able to do sprint planning and other things since then; however, I don't seem to be able to get back to the board listing (management) page without having to use the direct URL. If we can fix that, it would be great.

Thanks, and have a great day!
