How do I get epics to appear on my Kanban backlog panel?

I have a Kanban board with multiple projects. I would like to see the epic list in the backlog view for those associated to the board. I have the epic panel enabled, but I don't see any. Is it possible I have to complex a query?

Check filters

Firstly, check your filters for your  Kanban board. Make sure that your filters include Epics for the results, i.e. JQL has 'type is in ( ..., Epic, ...)'.

Otherwise, all epics will be filtered out of the Kanban

Check mapped status

Check that the statuses used by all your Epics are assigned to one of the Kanban columns.
