How do I get my issues populated on the Releases screen?

Robert E October 22, 2020

1.  I have an active Sprint with 27 issues.  I have assigned each issues' "affected version" to the version in my Releases screen (for example: Release Version 1.1), however when I go to the Releases screen, it does not populate the issues (for example: "Issues in version", "Issues Done", "Issues in Progress", etc.).

2.  Also, is there a way I can assign an entire Sprint (and all its' issues) to a Release Version?  Or is the only way to go to each individual issue in the sprint and assign its' Affected Version?

The answers to these questions are not clear and I need a step by step help with it.

Hi Robert,

The releases are populated based on the Fix Version field instead of affected version.

To clarify: for e.g. a bug, the affected version is the version/s of your application that are impacted by the bug. The fix version is the version in which you are releasing the fix for that bug. As one points to the past, the other refers to the future.

Straightening that out will give you better results to start with.

To assign multiple issues to the same release, I would recommend you use the backlog view of your scrum board to do so. It is the view where you plan your sprint and where you have a Versions panel on the left of your screen.

You can simply drag issues from your backlog on the version of your choice there to assign the release.

Bulk change might be an option too, but than you leave the context of your sprint planning. And that might be less intuitive.
