I want a very simple project that allows my team to log work against business projects -- for example, someone might log work against "Marketing", "Sales" or "Vacation.
I've tried the new Task Management project type and there's no "Log Work" menu option on the issue screens. I modified the screen and added "Log Work" to the options, but nothing changes.
I then deleted that project and created a software project based on the Agility board style. Same problem.
Then I deleted that project and created a Task Management project and switched the project type to "software".. that seems to work, but I got no board with it. It only appears in the issues navigation... and when I hit "create board" (stupidly placed in the Search interface?!?!? under "view all boards???) I can only create a board based on a new project.
Why is this so complicated?!?
Dear @Scott Love,
this is that complicated, because Atlassian has set up some project creation template to easy up this process. Software and Business template differ.
Most probably you only lack the permission:
Work On Issues
Ability to log work done against an issue. Only useful if Time Tracking is turned on.
As soon as you enable this in your Permission Scheme, the "Log Work" button will be there. If not, tell me, we will find out.
So long
Thomas

Sorry for the slow reply, @Thomas Deiler... In doing more digging, I have discovered that you cannot enable Time Tracking fields for Business projects.
This is a bummer... we log our time against both Software projects and Business projects. I am stuck having to use only Jira Software templates.
