How do I type/render emoticons like (x) and (?) in the new experience Jira?

I'm using the new Jira experience now a couple of days. I like it.

But this issue is really annoying:

• old emoticons are still showing as icons
• but typing (x) or (/) in new tickets or new comments does NOT render as icons, but remains as text (/)

How can I write emoticons in the new Jira??

Hi Wim,

Are you still experiencing this issue? 

I tested this on my instance and created a new issue with (x) and (/) in the description and they showed as icons as expected:

Let me know if you are and provide the instance URL and a screenshot of the emoticons that are still showing as icons and a comment that should appear as above but does not.
