How do I view closed sprints in the backlog?

In order to view the Sprint X stories in the Board view, I have to start each Sprint. In order to Start a new Sprint, I have to close the previous one that I started. Closing the Sprint causes all of the stories from Sprint X to move to a new sprint or the backlog, so I can no longer view the stories that I worked on during that time. I am looking for a way to close the previous sprint but still have those stories appear in the backlog. I could do this before Next Gen. It is frustrating to have all of the stories from that sprint compile all over the sprint boards.

Hello Casey,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

When using a next-gen software project, currently, it's not possible to view closed sprints.

There is a feature request suggesting the implementation of this ability:

Please, click on vote and watch to receive updates about the feature.

What a massive oversight.

Has anything been done about this since 18 Mar?

Ridiculous. Completely ridiculous.

The basics of a most simple UI design and CRUD data access have been known since the 1960s, but seem to have just been totally disregarded here.

Complete & workable software is not comprised of the 3 most popularly-request user journeys, to the disregard of every other need to access the data.

Atlassian are leading examples of "product management-led failure" in aoftware and UX design.

Hello @Savvas Demetriou,

Thanks for reaching out to Community!

The last update about this feature was on December 9, 2019. You can check the comment from the PM Ivan here where he was asking for use cases for them to better understand why this feature is needed on next-gen projects.

Also, I found an internal comment from 2 months ago where they informed that there is no ETA for this feature to be implemented.

Please, add a comment on the feature request, vote, and watch to receive future updates.

Regards,
Angélica

It looks like there has been something added to reopen a closed sprint.

What I want is simply to be able to see the closed sprint.

Use case (I imagine this is extremely common)

We are working on a new sprint

There has been a regression noticed in testing

The bug was nicely documented on a previous Jira, along with what commits fixed it

I want to be able to bring this Jira in to the current sprint, not try to go through explaining it all again, and finding what was implemented
