How do i Prevent active defects landing into the backlog

I would want only Defer defects lading onto backlog .

I currently see all active defects in the back log. How do i prevent defects in other statuses landing into the backlog. 

 I would want  deferred status defect move to back log. How do I achieve tis in JIRA

Are you working with a Kanban board or a Scrum board?

With a Kanban board, the Backlog is configured to display issues based on their status.

With a Scrum board the Backlog displays all issues that are not currently assigned to an Active Sprint or a Planned Sprint, regardless of Status.
