@Mike Your integration can request an access token by calling https://api.atlassian.com/oauth/token , providing the OAuth 2.0 credentials (client ID and secret) generated from Jira Software. client_id : (required) Set this to the Client ID from the OAuth credentials page

@Mike hello! I see that someone already linked to the Atlassian docs for reference. I'll add another way, an alternative, for integrating both Jira Software and Jira Align instances. It involves a 3rd party solution (if you're open to the idea of using one) - the ZigiOps connector. It's a 100% no-code solution that can connect the two bi-directionally, sync them (keep them up-to-date in real-time), and transfer the data you want. It's fully customizable so you can tweak it the way you need to accomplish your projects. It's safe (ZigiOps does not store any of your data), easy, and fast to use (you'll need less than 10 minutes). Feel free to check ZigiOps here at the Atlassian marketplace and even book a tech demo (it's free and non-binding) just to see how it works and how it integrates those systems.
Regards, Diana (ZigiOps team)

HI @Mike
Depending upon your requirements, it is possible to integrate Jira Align with Jira version using OpsHub’s free Community Edition. An Atlassian partner, OpsHub offers a federated integration platform to help ease your integration journey. It supports all System (Tasks, Epics, Bugs, Stories) and Custom Issue Types, Sub-Task Types on Jira, and multiple entity types like Capability, City, Customer, Defect, Epic, Ideation, Initiative, Portfolio in Jira Align.
You will be able to achieve the creation/update of an entity in Jira Align whenever an issue is created/updated in Jira or vice versa.
OpsHub also takes care of the following use cases:
Format retention: Jira Align uses HTML text formatting, while Jira uses Wiki markup text formatting. OpsHub retains the format when integrating data between Jira and Jira Align.
Field-level conflict management: In the case of bidirectional integration, data may be updated simultaneously in Jira and Jira Align, causing conflicts. OpsHub supports Field-level conflict management to maintain consistent data across Jira and Jira Align.
Data granularity: OpsHub supports data granularity (Intermediate state or End State only) required for integration for the use case. E.g., When the user modifies the status from Open -> In Progress -> Resolved in Jira, determine whether a transition with Intermediate state (Open -> In Progress -> Resolved) is required or a transition to end state (Open -> Resolved) is required for the use case.
