How do we remember that for which engagement we need to use epic/story/task etc?

I would like to understand the basics of using JIRA like for any engagement/delivery how do we decide or remember we need to use Epic/Story etc? Any specific rule to by heart it or how it works pls explain from the common man's language and for the beginner who is totally new to JIRA never seen or used before nor come from a technical background..

What you are asking is really more functional type questions about Agile practices in general. I would suggest you find some good material and read up on that. Jira is just the technical solution to capture your functional process.
