How do you create components?

We have a product which has about 10 components. We are currently using Mantis, but would like to switch to Jira. In Mantis we use subprojects, but I've read that JIRA does not have the concept of a sub project. I've seen mention of "components", which sound like they would fill our need, but I can't figure out how to create components for a project. Where in the interface do you set them up?

You need to be a project administrator, then you can maintain them for that project.
