  • Copy the install file over to the new server with scp
  • ssh to the server and run the installation file
  • Follow the prompts
  • Once complete the completion of setup is done in a browser

okay, you may need to either set the JAVA_HOME path, or install java 1.8 to continue with the install.

Siyanda Cele March 1, 2018

It's installed, now I can not access the port :8080

Okay, bit of an assumption here, but it sounds like you need to get the firewall ports opened up for 8080. If you are using ssh to access the server then it sounds like the route is locked down.

Alternatively you could install/run lynx on the server to directly access JIRA, I wrote a little bit around that here - Command-line-browsing-with-Lynx

What am I doing wrong here, I tried it locally it even worser...

That 'address in use' error means that Jira cannot start up using that port 9990.  This usually happens because there is some other program on this system that already has that specific port number open.

You can edit the $JIRAINSTALL/conf/server.xml file in order to change what port Jira is using.  Steps on how to do this are in Changing JIRA application TCP ports
