How do you show the linkage between a TO DO item and the IN PROGRESS or DONE item?

when I show an item in progress , how do I tag it back to the item in the ToDo list that it relates to.?.

You will need to create a transition going from TO DO to IN PROGRESS and another that goes from IN PROGRESS to TO DO
