I am setting up a business project in Jira Software. I want to populate the Organizations field with the list of our customers. I am unsure of how to go about doing this.

Hmmm, the only default Organizations field I’m familiar with is associated with JSD not Jira. Maybe it has been added and I have not seen it or maybe you a have a custom field?

I created a project using the project management business template. The Organization field is available for me to add to the screen and the field is available after I create an issue. I'm just not sure how to go about populating the field with our customer list.

Did you check admin > issues > custom fields find the field and click on the ellipses and check contexts?

Yes. I can't say that I know what it means but here is the screenshot.Organizations_Context.png

So what exact template did you use to create the project. I want to create a new project to see if I can replicate.

I used the project management business template. Classic project.

Ok so I created a new PM business project. Organizations was on part of the default scheme but I could add but there is no way to configure as it is locked just as your image shows. Moreover I can no get it to show on my screens. I am pretty confident that it is only valid for JSD projects but TBH I’m confused why it would be available for a Jira project.

I created a custom field for Customers. We are using this project to track new customer implementations so every task is associated to one of our customers. I thought Organization was the right field to use but if I can't configure it, then it doesn't help me. I may have to use the custom "Customer" field I set up to serve this purpose.

Thanks for the help

Agree. You need to use a custom field and can make it a single select if that works for you.
