How have you shown Milestones?

With Milestones currently as a feature request (see here), how have you accounted for and shown Milestones in your advanced roadmaps?

We've used a Milestone issue type and set the start and end dates to be the desired date. We use the black diamond issue type icon (i.e. Microsoft Project) to give some familiarity to our project managers. :)

Has anyone else found a clever way to show these? I know the most obvious way is to use the Releases but our users found that to be a bit confusing.
