How is Jira updating group management automatically?

I was looking for a reason for why some team members have lost access to a project and saw this in the Audit log:

30/May/24 8:47 AM JIRA group management

User removed from group

Manufacturingcom.atlassian.crowd.directory.IdentityPlatformRemoteDirectory Show less

Operation details:

Date:
30/May/24 8:47 AM (GMT-7) America/Phoenix

Associated users:

How does this happen?

Hello @Danno

That happens when your Cloud instance is using an Identity Provider to provision and synch users and groups. On a schedule the synchronization will match the group memberships in Cloud to the group memberships in your IdP.

Thanks Trudy. I think part of this is due to my IT team claiming our existing email domain accounts. I have been able to correlate some of the logs with an action taken by one of the admins using the audit log under the security settings.

I never have noticed that message as the actor in the action. Makes it harder to figure out why people have lost access to certain projects due to groups and roles being changed by other admins.
