My team is moving to a new Project within Jira and setting up a new Scrum Board. This new project has both the "Refinement" and "Ready" statuses. I want to make sure that when I start a new sprint, all stories in the Backlog will appear in the first column of the "Active Sprint" view. Do I still need to have "Ready" mapped to the first column or can it be "Refinement?" Thank you!
Hello @Abby O_Connell
While Jira has some predefined Status values (To Do, In Progress, Done, etc.), other Status values can be created the Jira Administrators.
And the users/admins of the Jira system can apply their own definitions to those Status values.
You will need to check with the Project Administrator and/or the Jira Admins to find out the definitions for those Statuses.
As for mapping statuses to columns, all available statuses should be mapped to columns. If you leave a status in the Unmapped Columns area, then issues in that status will not display on your Backlog screen nor on the Board view.
